This illustration is part of an introduction series about not so well known animals. It's a school assignment for my illustration class. The meaning of the series is to teach younger children more about non-cliche animals. Most of the animal books for children are about cats, dogs, horses, dolphins etc. and I want to change that.

For this project I left out a lot of details to end up with a more stylized version of the animals used. In my opinion this is more fitting for younger children. I also used a very minimalistic background for each of them so that it's not too distracting.

Number 8: the blue weevil. These colourful beetles are native to Papua, New Guinea.

Ziet er erg leuk uit :D. Je visje is ook enorm goed gelukt. Kun je pastel nog afvegen van je blad? Het viel me op dat je sommige delen blauw bij het visje had weggehaald precies *wanna know your secrets :3*

Dit boekje gaat er echt leuk uit zien, ben jaloers!

gewoon gommen, gommen en nog eens gommen :D met de kneedgom heb ik inderdaad blauw weggehaald om meer een bewegingseffect van het visje te verkrijgen en die pastel op de randen van het blad heb ik met die potloodgom weggeveegd. Je moet dan wel keihard drukken (met pijnlijke armen tot gevolg :)) en het is hier en daar nog wel een beetje zichtbaar. Maar hoofdzakelijk gaat het er wel gemakkelijk af :)

ik ga waarschijnlijk nog vier beestjes bij maken maar die zullen niet meer voor de jury zijn. Ik ga het toch proberen af te krijgen voor mezelf dan en dan op die site laten drukken. Hopelijk wordt het dan een mooi resultaat :) ben benieuwd. Mercikes in ieder geval!

De Weevil, klinkt als een of andere maf creatuur uit Alice in Wonderland =P. Ziet er weer goed uit! Ik ben wel nieuwsgierig wat due jury ervan vind!

ik vind het inderdaad ook wel een catchy naam :) in het nederlands is het gewoon snuitkever... pff weevil klinkt veel beter ^^

bedankt! ik hoop ook dat de jury het leuk gaat vinden, we zullen zien. spannend...
