Why DA annoys me more and more...

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 19, 2010, 3:56 AM
Image Hosting by… <--- first of all, read this.

Start ranting:

So now DA decides to remove the resize option huh? Don't they realize that there are a lot of artists here who use it 24/7? I use it everytime I upload artwork to avoid art theft... The bigger you upload your work the easier it gets for people to steal stuff. And now that there's no more resizing in DA I have to resize all my drawings and photos manually... Even more work if you ask me.

Oh and one other thing: why o why does this site still loads soooooo slow? Everytime I want to check my message center I have to wait for 15 freakin minutes? Now why is that? I don't know if other people are having the same problem but it really starts to freak me out. :fork: Does anyone know how I can fix those loading problems? It's not that I'm using some outdated browser, it's the newest version of Firefox goddammit!

And the worst of all: I paid for a premium membership two months ago... What a waste of money!.. sigh.. I miss the old DA...

I wonder how long it will take for this journal to get uploaded.... what about an hour, DA? Long enough for you?
Pfff...I'm fighting the urge to eat my laptop...

RIP little buddy

Yesterday my guinea pig Vincent died... One week ago I went to the vet because he suffered severe diarrhea and didn't eat and drink anymore. I had to keep him inside for a week and force-feed him fluids and meds. After some days he looked a lot better and started eating again. I was really glad and thought he could make it. But still I was a bit worried because he didn't put on enough weight.
So yesterday, on Christmas, he was no more...

So long, Vincy. I couldn't save you, but I hope you're in a better place now...

If you wanna go to the movies...

Seriously, I was completely blown away :faint: I think I almost squeezed my boyfriend to death in some scenes... (I think I was munching on his clothes too...) It really felt like you were in the middle of the movie. Everything looked so realistic. The characters, the plants, the animals, the ENTIRE jungle for crying out loud. The CGI was mindblowing to say the least. So I wasn't surprised to find WETA workshop in the end titles. Ever since Lord of the Rings these guys are the bomb when it comes to CGI and motion capture. How many emotion can you put in one CGI character to make it look sooo believable? I bow to your awesomeness :worship:
The story might be a bit corny and predictable, but it came with a strong message and was still enjoyable to watch till the very end.

So thanks James Cameron. I didn't give you much credit for Titanic, but sure as hell I'm giving it now.

Update of a random journal update :3

Hooray! I've got my header and footer back :boogie:
I hope they make it a free option in the future...

Unintentionally stolen from some journals... :ashamed: :D My apologies! But it looked like fun to do! :slow: :boogie:
I was in need for some fresh journal content ^^

Name: Liesbeth aka Lizy
Birth date: 20/11/1986
Age: 23
Country of origin: Belgium
State born in: No states here :)
Religion: Officialy I’m Christian, but I don’t believe in any higher power or afterlife. Only the power of science :paranoid:
Height: 1m65 (5’5) as far as I know. Actually I haven’t been measuring myself for 4 years…
Eye color: Greyish blue
Hair color and style: Brown, medium long.

Explain your username: Lol, here goes: I really liked the soundtrack from the movie ‘Fear and loathing in Las Vegas’, especially the songs by Jefferson Airplane. So it didn’t take long for me to go and buy one of their albums. I ended up with one of their most famous ones: ‘Surrealistic Pillow’. I really really liked the name. It sounded so deliciously absurd to me ^^ Because I’m also a great fan of Monty Python absurdity is an epic win. So hence my username.

Are you afraid of anything/have any phobias?
Not those that control my life. But there is one thing that I’m a bit embarassed about. I hate escalators. Yes, I think it’s scary :ashamed: And that’s my mom’s fault. When I was little she used to tell me that your hair could get stuck when your not careful on an escalator. I know that’s stupid, but still...

Do you have any allergies?
Sadly, I do… During spring is the worst. I’m allergic to all kinds of pollen, cats, dust mite, soya products, carrots and most kinds of fruit.

Are you the first, middle, last, or only child?
I’m the oldest child. I also have a younger sister. She’s four years younger than me.

Do you WANT to have children? If so how many?
I’m still not sure about that. Maybe two. But definately not now. Perhaps when I’m 28 :)

What was your dream job when you were a kid?
It’s sooo stupid when I think about it, but I wanted to be a tour guide in a museum for natural history and teach people about animals and dinosaurs. After that I wanted to be a paleontologist :lmao:

What is your dream job now?
Marine biologist. But that’s never gonna happen, because I didn’t study biology. I also wanna be a scientific illustrator. That’s a more likely option seeing as I studied graphic design.

Do you like any ‘freaky’ food combinations?
Not really.

What time do you usually wake up?
When I have to work, it’s around 7am. In weekends around 11am. Yes, I love to sleep.

What time do you usually go to sleep?
Quite late actually. I think around 12pm.

How often do you go out drinking?
Depends on my friends.

What do you do most in your spare time?
A lot :D Watching movies, drawing, reading, playing games, internet, doing stuff with my boyfriend or friends, going out, taking care of my pets, etc…

Name your hobbies: See question above.

What are you attracted to in the opposite sex?
It depends on the moment. But if you really wanna know: I like it when they: have brown eyes, are good looking, are taller than me, have humor, are social and of course are sweet and intelligent…
How many pets have you had in your life? (not including farm animals/live-stock)
My first pet was a dwarf rabbit named Snoopy. I don’t really remember much because I was too young to take care for a pet, really. The next one was a guinea pig I got from my uncle. But it died shortly after. Then we had a couple of fish. Tropical ones. But again, it was more my dad who took care of them. The first pet I could really call my own was an albino mouse called Floyd. My best buddy for three years. Sadly mice don’t live very long. After that I wanted to keep budgies. So my dad built a small aviary for my birthday. I had four budgies, but two of them started laying eggs and I ended up with eight. :p (I still have four of them so they’re now 9 years old) Then I kept two gerbils, Spip and Spinky. And they also got babies, a lovely litter of six. I kept them all, because they were too cute to sell and you never know if their future owners have the right responsibility.
Today I still have two guinea pigs, Vincent and James (5 years old), two ranchus, Plov and Doodle, a sailfin pleco named Gibi and four budgies.

How many houses have you lived in in your life?
Two. We only moved once.

Your Favourite-
Colours: Dark red and lime green.
Animals: Orcas
Season: Summer
Flower: Orchids and red roses.
Game: Mario games, Zoo tycoon, Uncharted, Resident Evil, Phoenix Wright, Dragon Age, Warhammer online,…
Sport: I loooove swimming and snorkeling, squash and badminton. Next year I want to start scuba diving.
Songs: Too much to add here. I don’t have a real favorite. But music is very important in my life. I love to sing.
Movies: Lord of the rings, the Matrix, Monty Python movies, Quentin Tarantino stuff, Fear and loathing in Las Vegas, Disney, Star Wars, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. I’m a real movie freak :3
TV Shows: Futurama, the Simpsons, Monty Python, Little Britain, BBC documentaries, sometimes CSI and House.

Can You-
Do a handstand: Never could and never will be.
Raise one eyebrow and not the other: Yes, but only with the left eyebrown down...
Dance: I followed ballet lessons for 8 years and after that 2 years hiphop.
Sing: I loooove singing :3
Whistle: Yes.
Cook: Not that much. Just the basic stuff. I want to take cooking lessons in the future.
Speak a different language: English, a tiny bit of French and even a tinier bit of German.
Do any magic tricks: I once got a ‘Learn how to make magic’ box for Christmas when I was 7. Does that count? :3
Put together DIY boxed furniture: Yes yes. I’ve put together my own night table Ikea-style :D
Use Power tools: Depends on what kind of tool.
Write a Resume: I’m looking for a job at the moment so yes.
Rollerblade: Nope. I can't keep my balance...
Skateboard: If you count sitting on a skateboard as skateboarding, then yes :D
Surf: Never done it before. But I don’t think I can.
Hoola Hoop: On the Wii with a balance board, yessss! :slow:

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Yaaay I gotz Spore! And it's soooo much fun :excited:

I bought it last friday for 54 EUR (I know, expensive...) but actually worth the money cuz it gives you hours and hours of pure entertainment. Also, you should totally check out the Galactic Edition of Spore. In addition to the game you also get two extra DVDs with the making of Spore and a documentary of National Geographic, the artbook and a little poster. Especially the art of Spore is quite interesting to look at. These guys really put a lot of effort in it. But like any other game it also has it's flaws. According to my boyfriend, who loves gaming since he was a tiny baby human :), the first stages of the game are a bit too easy and don't really provide a challenge. And according to a lot of reviews I've read the last stage is too damn difficult. So it's not evenly spread throughout the game. Also, if you were planning to play against or with some of your friends in Spore, you're going to be a bit dissapointed too. Because you have to be really really lucky to even find and meet them during the game. Perhaps it should be a bit more like Worlds of Warcraft on terms of online gaming.
But despite those little flaws it's a very entertaining game to play and really worth the try. If you love to create stuff this is definately the game for you.

Finally a nice little tribute to the evolution theory... Darwin could be proud of himself...

One more thing: if you like to add me as a friend in Spore, my username is lizy88 :)

Unless you're dying to pay me ofcourse, I wouldn't mind ;) but mainly everything is free of charge. It's more like 'gift art-I'm-making-to-amuse-myself).

That's it for now.

The last journal I wrote was on April 26 so I felt it was time for a little update.

My busy school period is finally over so I'm pleased to announce that I'm accepting orca commissions/requests again. (It's my first time to accept a lot of commissions/requests at the same time, so I hope it will turn out well :))

One thing to keep in mind is that I can only start drawing them untill somewhere around July. At the moment I'm working for a small company who asked for some drawings. Deadline's the end of June. After that I'm going on vacation to Italy. Hence the commission delay. So why telling you this now and don't wait to make the announcement in July you might ask? Well, because I like to let you know beforehand (and to organize my stuff better).

It's decided! These are the ones who'll get a commission/request from me for now. I know it's not entirely fair with all those timezones, but I had to decide and these were the fastest ones to comment. The rest who commented on this journal get their chance some other time. I'll be sure to remember you :) (I'll put you on the list for next time)

If you're on this list, please note me with additional details about your commission if you haven't done it already. Thanks!
1. :iconokura: (Okura)
2. :iconhinzekatze: (Tiffany007)
3. :iconkiller--girl: (Killer--Girl)
4. :icongordorca: (Gordorca)

- I only accept orca commissions at the moment. Other cetaceans are welcome too ofcourse ^^
- If you want a request/commission, let me know via journal comment and note me afterwards with the details. It would be easier to know what you want :)
- The fastest person to comment will get a commission/request.
- Keep in mind that it would probably take a month before I can start drawing. So please be patient and you will be rewarded.
- For the people who weren't able to get a commission: don't worry,    you'll get your chance some other time. Promise :)

I think that's it for the time being. If you have questions, don't be afraid to let me know :)
